Almost all PCMs (phase change materials / latent heat storage media) of the RT category can be microencapsulated. These tiny capsules of approximately 10 to 20 µm have in their inside a PCM nucleus which is surrounded by a plastic cover. Phase change succeeds within these particles and therefore it cannot be seen by the applicant. The microencapsulated PCMs are available in an aqueous dispersion. It is used in cases in which the PCM shall be mixed easily with other materials. Typical applications for such combinations are admixtures in the field of building materials and fibers.
