Keeping the temperature of electric devices and batteries within certain boundaries is a problem that can be addressed using PCM. One of the teams in Formula Student (WHZ Racing Team ) emploid RT44HC to reduce the maximum temperature of the lithium cells significantly. The PCM used is part of a multi-layer system with a variant of functionalized layers. The multi-layer is then inserted between the cells to allow fast heat transfer.
